THE TENSILE JOINT

A studio in reverse, figuring out the details first and from there informing the architecture. My designed tensile joint is repeated along the length of the existing amphitheater site at MacDowell colony, highlighting the view of the new Hampshire landscape. The joint creates a canopy and promenade and culminates with the monumental performance space. The complex mimics the landscape with its structure and sets itself upon a plinth embedded in the earth where additional program is held.
